ADDITIONAL LABOR & CONDITION-BASED DISCLOSURES

Flat-rate pricing packages assume components are in serviceable condition. Marine engine maintenance for outboard systems exhibiting severe galvanic or environmental corrosion, seized fasteners, or degraded hardware from deferred maintenance require specialized extraction, thread restoration, or extensive remedial labor.

Any necessary hardware extraction or remediation will be billed at an additional rate of $250 per hour plus parts. Technicians will notify and deliver video evidence to the owner immediately upon discovery via email and text.

The vessel owner or representative will authorize any and all additional work and parts before proceeding with supplementary non-standard repairs.

SERVICE TRACKING & MAINTENANCE LOG DISCLAIMER

Notice to Vessel Owners: To guarantee absolute warranty protection under federal law, vessel owners must maintain strict, verifiable service validation logs for their Mercury outboard service. While independent technicians have full legal protection to execute mechanical labor, validation mandates require detailed documentation. Every service record must explicitly state the execution date, engine hour intervals, comprehensive lists of installed OEM components, and the exact fluid specifications deployed. Failure to maintain clear service logs may delay or complicate factory claims processing in the event of major internal component failure.

OUTBOARD SERVICE ONLY WILL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION OF SERVICE IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A VALID MANUFACTURER WARRANTY.

FAQ

=================================================================================================================================================

MERCURY OUTBOARD SERVICE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Will using an independent service provider void my Mercury Marine factory warranty?

A: Absolutely not. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302), a manufacturer cannot legally void your engine warranty simply because routine marine engine maintenance or technical repairs were performed by an independent service provider. You retain the absolute legal right to choose where your vessel is serviced. Our OUTBOARD SERVICE ONLY team provides comprehensive, digital line-item documentation detailing the execution date, exact engine hours, and a full tracking list of installed factory OEM components and fluids required to completely maintain and satisfy your factory warranty validity parameters.

Q: What factory oils and fluids do you use during service?

A: We strictly utilize Mercury and Quicksilver certified marine lubricants tailored to your exact engine family. For standard and high-output four-stroke outboards, we deploy Mercury Premium 10W-30 or 25W-40 Synthetic Blend engine oils. Lower unit gearcases are filled exclusively with Mercury High-Performance Gear Lube to maximize gear protection under extreme hydrodynamic loads.

Q: Why do triple and quad Mercury engine configurations require a different hourly labor rate?

A: Multi-engine rigs require advanced technical synchronization, computer alignment of Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS) control modules, SmartCraft engine tracking integration, and mandatory on-water sea-trial validation. Because of these rigorous calibration protocols and the restricted workspace inside multi-engine motor wells, triple and quad configurations are billed at a flat labor rate of $250 per hour.

Q: Does my SmartCraft system require calibration or syncing during a 100-hour or annual service?

A: Yes. During every 100-hour and annual service inspection, our technicians utilize specialized Mercury digital diagnostic tools to scan the SmartCraft network. We check for hidden fault history codes, update helm module profiles, verify digital throttle tracking sync across multi-engine linkages, and calibrate digital fluid level parameters before performing a master hardware hour counter electronic reset.

Q: How do you handle old, corroded, or seized hardware during a service check?

A: Our flat-rate dockside service packages assume the engine framework is in normal serviceable condition. If a technician discovers structural galvanic corrosion, seized fasteners, or broken bolts due to deferred maintenance, any specialized technical extraction or thread restoration is billed at an additional remediation rate of $250 per hour plus parts. Our technicians will stop immediately and deliver time-stamped video evidence to the owner via text and email. No additional work or parts will proceed without formal authorization and written consent from the vessel owner.

Q: How often must my Mercury outboard engine undergo routine service?

A: Mercury Marine dictates a factory routine maintenance interval of every 100 operating hours or annually—whichever milestone occurs first. Brand-new Mercury outboards require an initial, mandatory 20-hour break-in service to purge factory assembly fluid particles and complete warranty enrollment structural tracking.
